Vive la Québec
A big thank you to Liz and John for putting together a great day at Borders Curling Club yesterday. We had 28 curlers from Woodstock, Green Mountain, Rutland, and Borders. We created teams from a random draw before each set of games and played 4-end games to keep everyone rotating on and off the ice. Congratulations to Rita for winning the draw to the button contest at the end of the day!
Many of us capped off the day with a nice dinner at Colatina’s Exit in Bradford, Vt on our way back down I-91. Good food, good beer, and great company.
No word on summer curling yet, but stay tuned. Oh, and the dates and location for the GNCC championship have been announced — CORRECTED (New dates): August 15-18th at Bucks County Curling Club in Philadelphia.
Curling is done for the winter
This past Sunday was the finals for the winter session round robin. Team Holt emerged victorious over Team Swanson in a hard fought game with several lead changes. Team Dugdale edged out Team Flanders for third and Team Geer won their match against Team Seabrook.
The trip to Borders Curling Club is on for Sunday, March 24th. Watch your email for updates if you’ve signed up. When we have information from the arena about summer ice, we’ll send out an email for that as well.
Well, Saturday’s learn to curl at Hartford arena was a big success. Fifty-four people turned out to learn a bit about curling. Thanks to everyone who helped out and thanks to Rita for taking some pictures.
On Sunday night, Team Holt and Team Swanson won their semi-final matches. The two teams will play on the 10th for the winter championship.
