There’s been a lot about curling making the TV and newspapers lately. Last Sunday, the Manchester (NH) Union Leader had a front page article on the GNCC Men’s Senior Championships that were taking place in Nashua. And Tuesday night, Vermont Out and About, on Vermont Public Television, had a segment on curling in Quebec. I don’t know why they didn’t cover Vermont curling, but at least it was curling publicity. Here’s the link to the clip: http://www.vpt.org/clip/2984/curling.
Bob, Matt, and Phil were the victorious skips on Sunday night to open up the round robin. On Matt’s sheet, the game came down to his last stone, which always makes for a fun and exciting game.
Sorry it has taken me so long to post this. Last week just slipped away from me. However, for those who haven’t seen them yet, photographer Rick Russell from the Vermont Standard has some really nice pictures from the learn to curl that we held on the 13th. Here’s the link:
In spite of a foggy drive, we had fun curling Sunday night. Thanks to Jay, Rich, Chris, and Peter for providing instruction to three people who wanted to give curling a try.
The winter session is officially underway, so please get your winter ice fee ($220) to Tracey if you haven’t already. We are hoping to have 6 teams for this session, which means Jack is looking for another skip. If you’ve wanted to give it a try, now’s the time to speak up. To set up teams, the skips will pick their thirds and then Jack will assign members to fill out the rest of the teams.
The Vermont Standard photographer was on hand, so look for photos later this week. I’ll post a link when they are up.
